The Evening Halls and Squad Acts

Following the procession the fun begins for all of the guizers. The 45 Squads are invited to twelve halls in turn where they will each perform their act or dance routine.

Planning and organising is a key element of the halls. With almost 1,000 visitors due within 11 hours preparation and teamwork is key. The hosts and hostesses of these halls perform this brilliantly providing the vital ingredients of great music and sustenance in the form of tea, coffee, soup and sandwiches with plenty of home made fancies as well. The dancing will continue on until 08:00 Wednesday morning so energy levels need to be kept high.

Wednesday is a public holiday in Lerwick and a few strange sights can be seen throughout the day as guizers make their way home.
