Participation / joining in

The Up Helly Aa Day page provides an overview of the day and the sights you can see.

Any person can view the procession; you do not need tickets to watch the morning marching or evening procession. Everyone stands on the pavements alongside the roads.

The Procession page has a map showing full details of the evening procession route.

Tickets For Halls

The Up Helly Aa Committee organise and run the Town Hall only. All other halls are run by groups of hosts and hostesses.

The Town Hall Tickets are now sold out. No further applications can be accepted.

Successful applicants will receive their tickets in the post or will be notified where to collect them once they arrive in Lerwick.
