The Lerwick Town Hall is one of eleven vibrant and historical halls that open their doors on Up Helly Aa night, but it stands out as something truly special. Operated by the Lerwick Up Helly Aa Committee and a dedicated team of invaluable volunteers, the Town Hall is the only venue offering tickets directly to the general public through our website.

Join us for an unforgettable evening filled with atmosphere, music, and the spirit of Shetland’s most iconic festival. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning supporter, the Lerwick Town Hall promises a warm welcome and a night to remember.

Event Time

9:00 PM – 9:00 AM

Doors open at 8:30 PM

Entertainment

Squads will be performing during the night, including a visit from the Jarl Squad, so please try to stay for the entire event to enjoy all the entertainment.

Food and Live Music

Food and live music will be provided throughout the entire event.

Drinks

Please bring your own drink and plastic cups.

All drinks will be stored in a designated room where you can go to pour your drinks.

No bottles are allowed in the main hall.

Seating

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, so please arrive early.

Dress Code

Shoes with heels less than 10mm and any footwear that may cause damage to the main hall floor is strictly prohibited.

The application process for Lerwick Town Hall tickets for Up Helly Aa 2026 opened in December 2025.

We received a significant number of applications, and the process is now closed for the 2026 festival.

We will contact successful applicants in due course with information about paying for and collecting tickets.
